In today’s world, and in our industry, it is so easy to be consumed with information overload, especially since every time we turn around there is a new, “even better” product being released. I don’t recommend you ignore all of the new releases as some will be very important to advancing your business, but staying focused on mastering your practice is the only way to ensure success in a relatively short time.
Here are six more reasons to stay focused:

If someone had a solution to one of your greatest obstacles, and they didn’t tell you, would you be upset?
Let’s say someone could show you how to earn more money while working significantly less at the same time. Wouldn’t you want them to share with you every detail about this solution you’ve been dreaming of? What if the person keeping this secret was a friend or neighbor? How would it make you feel if they never took the time to help you improve your life? Doesn’t everyone want solutions to their greatest challenges? I know I do, and I’m willing to bet you do too. So, why are you so reluctant to tell the world about your services and expertise?
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak to a group of local business owners about the topic of change. I always enjoy these events for a couple of reasons. They’re obviously great prospecting and referral opportunities, but I also like hearing about other business owners’ challenges and offering up any advice I can.
I started by asking, “How many of you are really living the dream today?” “Not someone else’s dream. Not what others think you should be doing, but the life of your dreams.” Some shook their heads no. Some looked around the room or stared at the floor, but only one raised her hand and said yes. How would you answer that question? Are you living the dream?
We all know one of the greatest and most expensive challenges every advisor faces is how to acquire new clients, and the number one secret to overcoming it is often overlooked.
However, one company we all know very well, Apple, has obviously not forgotten about it and has mastered the art. What is it, you ask? Customer loyalty. Customer loyalty isn’t easy, especially with people more frequently reaching for the internet and researching how you stack up against your competitors. Customers are certainly becoming more fickle and less likely to choose an advisor and/or company for life. Thus, few advisors are able to keep clients for many years down the road. However, I promise if you can learn how to drive customer loyalty and appreciate your current clients, the perks will be extremely rewarding. |
